Mike Tindall and Keith Senior go face to face in charity rugby match
This September, Rugby for Heroes are teaming up with Gloucester Rugby and the Rob Burrow foundation to host Battle of the Codes: The Return. The match will see Rugby World Cup winner, and charity patron, Mike Tindall, captain a rugby union side against a rugby league team skippered by England and GB legend, and charity ambassador, Keith Senior.
In what promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining match, the two men will lead teams studded with former internationals and stars of the two codes, including the likes of Thinus Delport, Marcel Garvey, Ryan Lamb, Wayne Godwin, Darrell Griffin and Marcus St Hilaire.
To date, there have been three battles – rugby league took the first scalp in Gloucester in 2016 followed up by a narrow 28-26 victory in Hull in June 2018. In their most recent meeting on March 30th 2019, the union side finally got a win, beating the league team 48-34.
Gloucester Rugby are proudly supporting the match and Chief Operating Officer, Alex Brown said “We are excited to welcome Rugby for Heroes back to Kingsholm Stadium for the Battle of the Codes on Sunday 12 September kick off 3pm.
