The threatened thunder storm failed to arrive, so there was nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of a huge group of youngsters at a Rugby For Heroes Family Coaching Day at Brockworth.
Coaches from the junior section of the club joined forces under the guidance of Gloucestershire’s favourite Springbok Thinus Delport and his RFH team to run the boys and girls through a variety of skills sessions, ending with a touch tournament on the inflatable pitch.

Parents enjoyed this end of season festival of rugby, and coaches were impressed with the skills on show. Above all else, said Thinus, the level of enthusiasm for the game shone through on a grey day. Scott and Amy Newman, Archie’s parents, would certainly agree. Scott said that his son is always “Up and dressed for rugby at 7am every Sunday morning”. No doubt that will be the same when he’s a teenager!

All of us at RFH hope Archie and his friends enjoyed their day – we certainly did. Many thanks to all at Brockworth RFC for their hospitality, the BBQers for their epic efforts, and all the hard working coaches and volunteers for making it all happen.
