We’re delighted to share an uplifting tale from the Rugby for Heroes community that showcases the influence of individual initiative and collective backing. Maisey Pollok, a remarkable 17-year-old whose recent skydive not only raised £520 for our charity but also kindled a spirit of generosity and camaraderie among our supporters.
Maisey’s bond with the military runs deep; her mother, Vanessa Pollok, served in the Royal Air Force for 15 years and also an ambassador, speaker and supporter of the charity. Vanessa comprehends firsthand the trials of transitioning from military to civilian life. She expressed, “I understand how overwhelming it can be when you bid farewell not only to a career you’ve built over time but also to your extended family, home, and surroundings.”
Having traversed the complexities of this transition, Vanessa acknowledges the importance of organisations like Rugby for Heroes. She stressed, “Being able to meet and converse with individuals who are in the transition phase from military to civilian life is not only fulfilling but also essential.”
With Vanessa’s encouragement, Maisey embarked on her skydiving venture with a clear mission: to raise funds for Rugby for Heroes and aid military personnel in their transition to civilian life through rugby. Her bravery and determination stand as a testament to the resilience and unity of our community.
Following her triumphant skydive, Maisey shared her exhilaration, describing it as “The best experience of my life.” Her gratitude reflects not only the joy of personal achievement but also the profound impact of collective backing.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Maisey for her initiative and commitment to our cause. Her endeavours have not only generated vital funds but have also heightened awareness of our mission to support military personnel in their transition to civilian life through rugby.
However, Maisey’s journey is not solely about her; it serves as a testament to the fortitude of our community and the generosity of our supporters. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, aids our ability to make a difference in the lives of our military heroes.
To all who have supported Maisey and Rugby for Heroes, we express our deepest gratitude. Your contributions are invaluable and enable us to continue our crucial work. Whether through fundraising, volunteering, or spreading awareness, your involvement makes a difference.
As we celebrate Maisey’s success, we encourage others to join us and support our cause. Whether by organising fundraisers, participating in events, or simply sharing our mission, every action counts. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
Thank you, Maisey, and thank you to all who support Rugby for Heroes. Your dedication and generosity inspire us all.
