“The course has given me a clearer understanding of the transition process, from CV writing and interview techniques to networking and industry insights. It has also helped me identify how my military leadership, problem-solving, and coaching skills translate into the civilian job market. Through group discussions, practical exercises, and networking events, I had the chance to share experiences and learn from others in similar positions. The organisation team was approachable and knowledgeable, offering tailored advice that helped me explore different career options. It provides valuable insights into career pathways, civilian workplace expectations, and practical skills for securing employment. The support network it creates is also beneficial, especially for those who may feel uncertain about their next steps. I plan to refine my CV further, actively engage in networking opportunities and explore roles where my leadership, engineering and coaching experience can be applied. Additionally, I’m considering ways to incorporate my rugby coaching qualification into my future career, whether through full-time roles or side opportunities. Speaking with professionals who have successfully transitioned provided real-world insights and practical advice. It also allowed me to expand my network and establish potential contacts in industries I’m interested in. Key skills include leadership, team management, adaptability and problem-solving. My experience as an AQMS in REME has given me strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage teams effectively. Additionally, my rugby coaching qualification has enhanced my communication, mentoring and strategic planning skills—all of which will be useful in civilian roles.”
