RugbyForHeroes is a fantastic charity, preempting transition from a career in the military and the potential frictions that changing profession, location and way of life can bring. Leaving behind a military identity and saying goodbye to brothers and sisters-in-arms can be difficult and it is easy to feel lost, isolated and lacking in purpose. RugbyForHeroes builds on military strengths of fitness, planning, confidence, discipline, instruction and training skills to quickly deliver competent England Rugby coaches and match officials. This provides local rugby clubs with an influx of qualified, competent and current coaches helping England Rugby’s community aims of ‘more people, playing more rugby, more often’. Vitally it also brings veterans back to rugby providing them with an immediate support network should they ever need it. It’s a real win win for veterans, local clubs and England Rugby.
The RugbyForHeroes course is expertly delivered by Team Lamb, and England Rugby, as well as transition and employment experts. I loved every minute of the course, and had a great time with all the course enablers and participants alike.

Rugby For Heroes, a local charity supporting service personnel as they transition into civilian life, has joined forces with businesses in Gloucester and Cheltenham to host Beyond the Uniform, an inaugural networking event for ex-military professionals. The event took place at The Roastery in Quedgeley Business Park, bringing together key figures from the business community to create career pathways for veterans.
