To mark the start of the 2019 Six Nations Championship, Rugby for Heroes, in conjunction with charity supporter Adjacency Recruitment, held a well-attended event at AquaVitae bar in Cheltenham to watch the Ireland vs England game.
Rugby fans of all supported nations were treated to not only a great spectacle of rugby, but were also in the company of rugby legends who provided expert commentary and analysis before, during and after the game. Olivier Azam (Fra), Rob Fidler (Eng) and Dave Hilton (Sco) were joined by Rugby for Heroes ambassador, Hollywood actor Julian Lewis Jones (representing Wales) to be expertly interviewed by Thinus Delport (SA). The banter flowed alongside the Guinness and it was great to hear the opinions of the guys on the superb game we saw.
We were then treated to a charity auction of all manner of rugby and military memorabilia, hosted as always by our Chairman, Simon Bailey. Thanks to our generous supporters we raised a significant sum which will go towards providing further Transition Through Rugby courses during 2019.
It was fantastic to be joined by a good number of ex-service personnel, many of whom have been through our Transition Through Rugby courses. We appreciate your help on the day and as always, appreciate your service.
This was the first event of a full calendar we have planned throughout 2019. To ensure you do not miss out, please register to join our mailing list so that we can share the latest news of our upcoming events. We are looking forward to the Battle of the Codes: Union v League legends game at Kingsholm on Saturday 30th March – don’t miss out, get your tickets early at https://tickets.gloucesterrugby.co.uk.
