The 4th Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic

groupGolfOn Friday 20 May, the Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic took place at The Belfry in Warwickshire. This was the fourth of its kind, with this year’s proceeds being split between Rugby for Heroes and the Matt Hampson Foundation.

The weather thankfully went against the forecast to provide a dry and mostly sunny day as stars of sport and entertainment gathered to take on the challenge of the Brabazon Course, which is of course famous for hosting the European Ryder Cup victory in 2002. Our Patron, Mike Tindall was joined by wife Zara as well as the likes of Nick Wood, Ben Foden, Thom Evans & Austin Healey from the world of Rugby, AP McCoy & Mick Fitzgerald from the world of National Hunt Racing and Vernon Kay, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy & Brian Mcfadden from the entertainment world.bails1

The event was once again a tremendous success with the evening gala dinner raising a huge amount for both charities through both a live and silent auction. The Charity would like to thank everyone involved in the golf day, in particular our Patron Mike and Autumn Phillips for putting on such a wonderful event. Their continued support is hugely appreciated by everyone involved in the Charity but most importantly buy those the Charity is able to support as a result.

Should you be interested in entering a team in to a future event then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Fight on the farm

Inside360 is hosting an ‘old school’ pros against celebs boxing match at St Albans Polo Club to help raise money for Rugby for Heroes and The Irish Guards. Both charities help get ex-service men and women, and their families, back into civilian life after returning from conflicts.

So far, Inside360 has announced the boxers will be former Commonwealth champion Chris Okoh, Paul ‘Silky’ Jones – the first British-born light middleweight world champion – former British and Commonwealth super bantamweight Mike Alldis and Steve Collins Jnr, whose dad was a two-weight world champion and will be in one of the corners. Ben ‘Duracel’ Jones will be in the other.

Across from them will be former All Black Craig Newby, former Scarlets hooker Craig Hawkins and London Welsh full-back Paul Sampson, plus one other to be confirmed.

The whole evening will be under a marquee with DJ Spoony on the decks and London Cheerleaders as the ring girls.

Niki Hobbs, the director of Inside360, said: “It has proved a great concept mixing the rugby players and boxers, bringing the two sporting worlds together, and although we must stress this is a charity event and the basis is on fun, I’m also sure they will all put up some great entertainment in the ring.”

The Pride of a Lion – May 2013

We hosted The Pride of the Lion – Twickenham event on May the 9th, this being the second event of it’s kind to be held at UK’s rugby headquarters. The night started with a drinks reception in and around the England Changing Rooms and spilled onto pitch side where we were entertained by one of the soldiers from the Royal Marine Core who did a fantastic solo with drum and bugle. Guest were then ushered in to the main building, through a our guard of honour made up of all three services.

Guests reconvened in the Live Room were we were seated for a feast of good food and fantastic entertainment. Our guest of honour was Col Kevin Beaton from the Queen Elisabeth Hospital and he gave an insight into some of his experiences which were very real and moving.

During the evening, we gave Sean Holly (our host for the evening) a chance to raise some funds with the Auction we had orgainised. We had a number of unique “money can’t buy” lots which help push the total on no-end.

After this, we moved on to the highlight of the evening were our former Lions Austin Healy, Rob Jones, Harry Ellis, Geordan Murphy and Australian Morgan Turinui – gave there thoughts on the build up to the Lion’s Tour, giving us the insight on what it feels like to represent the Lions.

Our guest had a fabulous evening and as we had hoped, a great deal was raised for our charity.
