The Sun – Rugby aces show off tackle

ENGLAND’S scrummy rugby young guns have given their backing to Our Boys by peeling off for a fundraising calendar.

Brothers-in-arms Delon and Steffon Armitage, plus Ugo Monye, Tom Croft and co swapped their rugby shirts for combats for the Help for Heroes shoot.

Royal Marine George Cross winner L/Cpl Matt Croucher — who saved comrades’ lives in Afghanistan by diving on a grenade — also teamed up with the rugger aces for the calendar.

They hope it will raise £150,000 for the servicemen’s charity.

The idea was the brainchild of England Saxons fly-half Ryan Lamb.

The 23-year-old was inspired by The Sun-backed Twickenham charity game last September which pitted a Help for Heroes XV against a Rest of the World team.

He said: “I have always been in awe of the commitment of our Armed Forces and was surprised at the lack of support available to them should they become injured in the course of their duties.

“Having sacrificed so much for their country I think it’s only fitting that they’re looked after on their return from duty.”
